The Carina nebula has been observed in a am wavelength band with a 100 cm balloon-borr telescope, and maps have been generated with a spatial resolution of 1'. More than thirty compact sourc were detected in the 0.5 deg2 area scanned; many of these sources do not have IRAS Point Source Catalc counterparts. The diffuse emission accounts for nearly half of the total emission in our band. A compariso with the observations at other wavelengths shows that the far-infrared emission is well correlated with oth tracers of matter. The region appears to be rich in massive stars, and most of the compact far-infrared sourc are likely to be dust-gas clumps heated externally by these stars.
