Agritourism in Indonesia offers significant potential for growth and livelihood improvement but remains limited by the underrepresentation of women. This systematic literature review examines the challenges and potential opportunities available through women's empowerment in Indonesian agritourism. Key barriers involve restricted agency via limited autonomy, voice and decision-making power. Opportunities arise from women’s potential achievements, particularly through improving livelihoods and women's positive impact on the community. Empowering women in agritourism can be advanced through transparent planning, inclusive decision-making, flexible work models, better financial access, skill development, and stronger policy support. Addressing these factors can enhance agritourism’s impact on gender equity and rural development in Indonesia.
