Environment-conscious people of the Netherlands take the fight against pollution very seriously. So strong is their sense of obligation that they have assumed the responsibility of assisting those in Central and Eastern Europe to improve conditions there. It is in such a spirit that J. G. M. (Hans) Alders, the Dutch environment minister, will head a delegation to Moscow later this month. While there, he will sign a document formally committing his country to provide the Soviet Union support toward helping address and overcome some of its environmental problems, such as air and water pollution and nature conservancy management. Around midyear, the occasion will be repeated in Prague. The ceremony will involve Czechoslovakia's federal minister of the environment, and, at a later stage, the environment ministers of both the Czech and Slovak republics.
