Based on the analysis of data from a survey of the Chairs of Research Sequences, five different dimensions of the content of research curricula in M.S.W. programs are described. By classifying schools across these five dimensions, four empirically distinct types of research sequences emerge. The authors discuss implications for research training in social work given the content of course work across these four types of curricula.
