Several digital restoration methods are extended to the cases in which signals have suffered stochastic blurring. Rather than being regarded in terms of averages, these degradations are treated dynamically in the derivation of restoration algorithms based on various mathematical criteria. It is shown that the integration of the additional uncertainties caused by the variations of the impulse response of the stochastic degradation can be used to obtain better estimates. These uncertainties can be included in the restoration scheme in a very flexible manner through the use of the projection-onto-convex-sets (POCS) method. Conventional constrained methods are also addressed. The benefits of the method are illustrated through one- and two-dimensional simulations.>
