The study of 5,700 non-metropolitan elderly revealed only sightly higher rates of service utilization for urban versus rural residents. Marital status, income, and age were related to service use for both groups. Among the rural aged, lack of transportation was also related to service usage. Additional correlates of service use among the urban elderly were car ownership and education.
