The distribution of localized levels in the gap of the ternary compound ZnIn2S4 is studied and an exponential distribution of the kind Nt(E) = NO exp (–δE) is found. The parameters and NO are calculated from measurements of I–U, from photoconductivity relaxation time, and from the lux–ampere characteristics. From these results and the study of the absorption tail the different kinds of optical transitions taking place are proposed.
