Investigates how digital practices influence life in the Philippine diaspora, suggesting new identities emerge in the process.
How do new computational visions of universalized planetary environments shape life across the Philippine diaspora? I take up this question through my own experience of what I term "gaze-scaling in the digital diaspora," a computational practice which I situate within the history of the development of network computing and the production of networked planetary environments, arguing that gaze-scaling produces new modes of the scientific subject, both the universalized unmarked observer, and the diasporic subjectivity it disavows.
