Formal framework establishes dimensional profiles and relations to algebraic geometry, highlighting implications for the Hodge conjecture.
We develop KM space theory as a formal framework for determining the minimum dimension of a structure-preserving realization. For a structured object \(X\), we distinguish its classical intrinsic dimension, its minimum admissible host dimension, its irreducible structural excess, and the removable redundancy of a selected presentation. These quantities form a KM dimension profile rather than a single dimension invariant. We formulate KM dimension relative to an explicit category, host family, dimension function, and admissible embedding predicate. For Euclidean embeddings, we introduce an augmented KM metric retaining the induced metric, second fundamental form, effective normal bundle, and restricted normal connection. We prove that the extrinsic KM dimension of an embedded manifold is\[KMdimₑₓₜ(M,i)= M+rankL_i,\]where \(L_i\) is the smallest parallel normal subbundle containing the image of the second fundamental form. This yields an exact decomposition of ambient dimension into intrinsic freedom, structurally implied freedom, and removable presentation freedom. We extend the theory to affine and projective algebraic geometry through minimum closed-immersion dimensions, tangent-space lower bounds, product estimates, base-change monotonicity, and projective representation complexity. We further construct effective and removable KM cones, relate them to algebraic normal cones and deformation to the normal cone, and introduce finite KM–Hodge certificates for rational cohomology classes. Finally, we establish the precise logical relation between KM certificates and the rational Hodge conjecture. A rational Hodge class admits a finite KM–Hodge certificate exactly when it is algebraic. Consequently, universal certificate existence is equivalent to the rational Hodge conjecture and remains an open construction problem. The resulting framework separates proved reduction theorems from conjectural existence statements and provides the categorical, geometric, and logical foundations required for the topological and algebraic-geometric development of KM theory.
