Earlier calculations of the cross sections for absorption of ultraviolet radiation by molecular oxygen in the transition 1³Π u ‐ X ³Σ g − are corrected and extended to shorter wavelengths. The calculations confirm the experimental identification of strong absorption in the region of 1350 Å, attributable to the ³Π u state.
