Why the study?
Mid-ventricular obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is rare, frequently complicated by apical ventricular aneurysm, and can be fatal due to ventricular arrhythmias.
Surgical resection of an apical aneurysm and transapical myectomy can effectively treat heart failure symptoms and ventricular arrhythmias in patients with mid-ventricular obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Surgery resolved symptoms and arrhythmias in this case; hypothesis-generating for mid-ventricular obstructive HCM with apical aneurysm.
