Case Report (n=1)
This case highlights the presentation of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy mimicking acute coronary syndrome and complicated by severe hypotension.

“We believe this is the first report of takotsubo cardiomyopathy complicated by cardiac tamponade due to hemorrhagic pericardial effusion developed in the context of high-dose anticoagulation.”
“Cardiac tamponade in takotsubo cardiomyopathy, however is very rare. In 2010, one case was described by Yeh et al. in Circulation. So far this complication has only been described in a total number of three cases.”
May prompt consideration of tamponade in takotsubo; leaves open incidence, mechanisms, and management.

Yeh et al. (2010) conducted a case report in Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (n=1). Unfractionated heparin, eptifibatide, and clopidogrel was evaluated. An 83-year-old woman treated for suspected acute myocardial infarction developed severe hypotension and was subsequently diagnosed with takotsubo cardiomyopathy on left ventriculography.
