Why the study?
Cardiac stereotactic body radiation therapy is an innovative noninvasive option for recurrent, therapy-refractory ventricular tachycardia, but long-term efficacy and safety remain under evaluation.
Cardiac stereotactic body radiation therapy (cSBRT) may be an effective noninvasive treatment option for recurrent, therapy-refractory ventricular tachycardia originating from the left ventricular summit.
Cardiac stereotactic body radiation therapy (cSBRT) is an innovative and promising noninvasive treatment option for recurrent, therapy-refractory ventricular tachycardia (VT). Although long term efficacy and safety is still under evaluation in multicenter studies, it is associated with a significant short-term reduction of VT burden and ICD shocks.1–3 To date cSBRT is neither a first line treatment strategy for VT ablation nor for premature ventricular contractions (PVC) but encouraging results have been reported.
