Key Points

This commentary explores how climate and geography contribute to the diversification of Himalayan Rhododendrons, particularly focusing on the Rhododendron arboreum species complex.
Reviewed existing literature on phenotypic and genetic variation in Himalayan Rhododendrons
Analyzed factors affecting diversification such as climate and geography
Discussed implications of geographic origins of the clade.
Highlights the significant role of climate and geography in the rhododendron diversification process.
Suggests that the origins of the Rhododendron arboreum species complex may be more complex than previously thought.

Implication

Commentary highlights climate and geography's role in rhododendron diversification across the Himalayas, suggesting origins.
