Content analysis explores how religion shapes societal roles for women and minorities in Sanderson's universes, highlighting inequalities.
The purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast the major religions in three different book series by Brandon Sanderson and discuss how these religions inform the societal roles and treatment of women and minority groups across a shared universe (The Cosmere). I will be asking if religion has a distinct impact on these two populations and how the religions differ from each other, thus creating different societies. This content analysis will be done using a sample of the first three books from each series, with supplemental material from the Coppermind, the official wikipedia for Sanderson’s work, using a coding system to find relevant information, and building a narrative around my finding. The impact of this paper will give context to potential religious and societal inequalities in Sanderson’s work and will make this information more concise and convenient for future researchers of similar topics or subject matter.
