Synthesis reveals crystal structure and steric properties of a ruthenium complex, suggesting unique spatial arrangement.
The title complex, [(η 6 -p -cymene)RuBr 2 (PPh 3 )] crystallised in the monoclinic space group P 2 1 /n , with unit cell parameters a = 15.5487 (11) Å, b = 9.2286 (7) Å, c = 35.460 (3) Å, α = 90 °, β = 96.048(2) °, γ = 90 °, V = 5059.9 (6) Å 3 and Z = 8 . The bulky PPh 3 ligand exerts moderate steric effect on the metal centre, as reflected by a calculated buried volume of 26.5%, a solid angle 122.6° and an exact cone angle 147.89°.
