This conceptual model proposes dynamic relationships between consciousness, information, and reality, suggesting new research directions.
The nature of consciousness, the nature of reality, and the role of information in the physical universe remain among the fundamental problems that modern science has not yet fully resolved. Although advances in information theory, neuroscience, quantum physics, and complex systems have provided explanations for individual aspects of these problems, a comprehensive theoretical framework integrating the interrelationships among consciousness, collective cognition, time, and reality has yet to be established. This paper proposes a new conceptual model within the framework of the Astrobios Hypothesis. According to the model, the most fundamental level of the universe may consist not of matter or energy alone, but of dynamic information structures and their mutual resonant relationships. Within this approach, consciousness is considered not merely as a product of neurobiological activity in the brain, but also as a dynamic system capable of entering into resonance with a fundamental informational environment. Reality, in turn, is interpreted as an emergent phenomenon that becomes stabilized through the synchronization of individual and collective consciousness with particular information structures. The paper comparatively examines Shannon information theory, computational neuroscience, predictive processing, complex adaptive networks, and existing theoretical models of consciousness. From the perspective of the Astrobios Hypothesis, several phenomena that remain difficult to fully explain within existing frameworks—including the emergence of collective cognition, the dynamics of scientific discovery, creative intuition, dreams, and the subjective perception of time—are reconsidered. According to the hypothesis, the human brain may function not only as an information-generating and information-processing system, but also as an adaptive resonator capable of interacting with broader information structures. In this context, scientific discoveries may be viewed not solely as the detection of an objectively pre-existing reality, but also as a process through which certain possibilities of reality become stabilized through the gradual synchronization of collective information networks. Within the same theoretical framework, dreams are interpreted as subjective experiences arising when consciousness temporarily enters into resonance with alternative information structures under conditions in which external sensory information is reduced. The paper does not present these propositions as established scientific findings. Rather, its purpose is to formulate a new theoretical model based on existing scientific knowledge, systematize its conceptual foundations, and propose testable predictions for future experimental investigation. In this regard, the Astrobios Hypothesis is proposed as a multidisciplinary research program for investigating the relationships among consciousness, information, time, and reality, providing a conceptual framework for future research.
