Mapping project identifies land disturbance impacts in Eielson Air Force Base, aiding resource management.
Located in Alaska’s interior within the Fairbanks North Star Borough, Eielson Air Force Base (AFB) covers 19,799 acres. Human-caused land disturbance on the installation is grouped into two principal periods: a post-contact era (1810–1937) and a military era (1937–present). This report delineates and summarizes disturbed areas using base-provided GeoBase GIS vector data pertaining to facilities and infrastructure, presenting mapped disturbance footprints and their relative intensity to support planning and resource management.
