Original game promotes strategic thinking and decision-making skills through tactical play in an educational setting.
Warring Alliances is an original two-player strategic and tactical board game created by Doumbia Amara in Côte d’Ivoire, Africa. The game combines abstract military strategy, terrain management, spatial reasoning, anticipation, and decision-making within a balanced and intellectually stimulating gaming environment. The game is played on a battlefield composed of 64 numbered spaces whose values directly influence movement, positioning, offensive capabilities, and tactical opportunities. Each player commands an identical alliance of six different military arsenals, ensuring that victory is not determined by unequal forces or random advantages, but primarily by strategic thinking, planning, analysis, and the intelligent use of the battlefield. One of the fundamental characteristics of Warring Alliances is its no-chance strategic system. The game does not rely on dice or random draws. Players must evaluate the available information, anticipate possible actions, identify opportunities and risks, organize their forces, and make decisions whose consequences directly affect the development of the battle. This makes the game particularly suitable for activities centered on reasoning, problem-solving, and strategic learning. From an educational perspective, Warring Alliances is designed to encourage the development of several important cognitive and transferable skills. Through gameplay, players are encouraged to develop strategic thinking, logical reasoning, spatial awareness, anticipation, concentration, planning, decision-making, problem-solving, and the ability to adapt their strategy according to changing situations. The game's movement and combat mechanisms require players to analyze spatial relationships, visualize movement trajectories, evaluate firing lines, compare positional advantages, and understand the consequences of different tactical choices. Players must constantly balance offensive and defensive considerations, making the game an interactive exercise in analysis and decision-making. The educational value of Warring Alliances also lies in its ability to transform abstract concepts such as organization, planning, territorial control, risk assessment, adaptation, and strategic coordination into concrete and observable game situations. Players learn through action by experiencing the direct consequences of their choices and by progressively improving their ability to anticipate and construct effective strategies. The game can therefore be considered not only as an entertainment product but also as a potential educational and intellectual tool. It may be relevant to families, schools and educational environments, game clubs, strategy communities, educators, researchers interested in game-based learning, and organizations seeking innovative approaches to cognitive development. The project currently has a developed conceptual foundation, a defined game system, and a complete official rulebook. Further development may include physical prototyping, playtesting, balancing, graphic development, manufacturing preparation, and potential digital adaptation. This Zenodo deposit presents the general concept, mechanisms, educational benefits, innovations, game universe, components, and development potential of Warring Alliances. The complete technical rules and detailed strategic interactions remain available from the creator for appropriate collaboration, publishing, development, or partnership opportunities. The project originates from Côte d’Ivoire and aims to contribute to the development and international recognition of original strategic board game creations from Africa.
