Circulating adiponectin levels correlated inversely with both cardiac fat depots (P<0.01) and left ventricular mass (P=0.003), while positively associating with left ventricular function (P=0.03).
Multivariate regression showed plasma glucose independently predicted myocardial and pericardial fat, with pericardial fat uniquely related to visceral adiposity and myocardial fat to cardiac workload.
