This paper considers theimpact the impact of the Great Storm of 16th October 1987 on the visual amenity of the landscape. It presents highly original empirical work using a photograph sample method to assess changing visual amenity. The study is based in a part of Suffolk Coastal District, an area indicated by other research to be one of the locations most severely affected by the storm. The paper develops the visual perception analysis in an assessment of the landscape management implications of the storm in the study area and attempts to suggest how these measures may affectthe future landscape of the area.
