The present work involves measuring the thermo-physical properties such as density (ρ), speed of sound ( u ), refractive index ( n D ), and viscosity (η) of some CO 2 -absorbing blends of 2-dimethylaminoethanol with benzyl alcohol, benzylamine, and aniline over the entire range of mole fraction from temperature T = 293.15–323.15 K and at 0.1 MPa pressure. The solvent’s physicochemical characteristics change as a result of the absorption of CO 2 . This in turn influences further absorption of CO 2, which raises the energy demand for carbon capture. All basic physicochemical properties of the solvent and CO 2 absorption exhibit interdependent eccentrics. In order to quantify the nonideality and to probe into the molecular interactions prevailing in these systems, various deviational and excess properties have been computed. These properties have been fitted to the Redlich–Kister-type polynomial to correlate these with composition, and correlation ability has been analyzed in terms of standard deviation. The collected thermo-physical data can be employed in the optimization and design of a CO 2 -capture process, utilizing the studied solutions. Furthermore, these data can also be utilized for theoretical model extension, in solving many difficult engineering problems related to fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, and energy transformations.
