Bismuth ferrite powders with different morphologies have been successfully synthesized via a facile hydrothermal route based on the reaction between BiCl3, FeCl3, and KOH. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectrometry and thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry. The results show that the BiFeO3 powders are well-crystallized with rhombohedral phase. The morphologies of the final products are obviously influenced by KOH amount and surfactant. FT-IR spectra results show characteristic vibrations of the obtained BiFeO3 samples. TG-DSC results indicate the Curie temperature of the obtained BiFeO3 is 830°C.
