Objective:The objective of the study is to analyze the association of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with dural venous manometry in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH).Methods: 21 cases of refractory to medical treatment IIH, candidates for venous stenting or balloon angioplasty, were selected.Lumbar puncture, MRI, angiography, and dural manometry data were collected and analyzed. Results: The presence of empty sella turcica was significantly associated with dural sinus stenosis.A lumbar puncture opening pressure (LPOP) > 29 cmH 2 O was associated with elevated pressure and dural venous gradient. Conclusion: A significant association was observed between the presence of empty sella turcica on MRI with the angiographic demonstration of dural sinus stenosis. The use of the LPOP could facilitate the selection of patients who are candidates for stenting or balloon angioplasty of the cerebral venous sinuses, which should be evaluated with a larger sample study.
