From experimental results on superconducting transition metals, regarding their reduced isotope effects on superconductivity, the pressure dependence of the transition temperature, the relation of the transition temperature to position in the periodic table, and impurity effects, it is shown that the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer theory of superconductivity is valid for these metals. It is found that a one-gap dirty-superconductor theory explains the experimental results. (T.F.H.)
