Assesses the impact of job demands on mental health in healthcare professionals, suggesting the value of organizational support.
Work-life balance is an important factor in an employee's life. Imbalance in these factors causes emotional strain, and their cognitive well-being is hampered. The study found that the cognitive well-being and emotional strain of healthcare professionals were assessed using the JD-R model. The data was collected from 200 healthcare professionals across public and private sector hospitals. It was then analysed with SEM and SPSS to examine the impact of job demands and job resources on mental health. The results showed that the emotional strain was higher among the private hospital professionals, while professionals faced much higher work pressure & lesser organizational support. The public sector professionals have better cognitive and emotional well-being, reflecting the strong organizational support and better work-life balance. The study also revealed that conflicts at the workplace and family exert a negative impact on mental health. Through the study, it could be concluded that the JD-R Model is effective in analysing how organizational support and flexible work scheduling help avoid job stressors and enhance the overall well-being of the professional.
