We describe the technique of small-angle neutron scattering, as used to image the vortex lattice in superconductors, and the information that can be gained from this technique. We review the present state of these measurements on iron-based superconductors, and discuss the implications of the results; in particular, we compare the information about pairing in these compounds with that available from other techniques.
