Collisionally activated spectra demonstrate that CH 3 CH 2 CO + rather than {article}{empty}{document}CH₂ = CHCH = O⁺ H{document} is formed in the metastable losses of hydrogen from [C 3 H 6 O] +˙ ions with the oxygen on the first carbon. This provides another example of formation of an acyl ion following ‘ketonization’ prior to metastable decomposition.
