The NRAO seven-beam receiver was used on the Parkes 64 m telescope during 1990 June to make the Parkes-MIT-NRAO (PMN) 4.85 GHz continuum sky surveys of the declination band - 88^deg^ < δ < -9^deg^. The PMN Southern Survey covering -88^deg^ <δ < -37^deg^ was reduced with AIPS to yield total-intensity maps covering {OMEGA} ~2.5 sr with θ~5' FWHM resolution (~4 X 10^5^ beams sr^-1^). The rms map noise plus confusion increases from σ ~5 mJy beam^-1^ near the south celestial pole to σ~10 mJy beam^-1^ at δ = -40^deg^. The rms position uncertainties on the maps vary from 6" in each coordinate for the strongest sources to 30" arcsec at S = 5σ. Sets of maps precessed to B1950 and J2000 coordinates are available On a FITS tape for quantitative analysis.
