Phase diagrams for monomer (methyl acrylate containing microemulsions) are shown and described. Polymerizations of a series of microemulsified monomer reveals the expected linear dependence of 1/ DS vs. [S]/[M] for pentanol acting as a chain transfer agent and giving a value of 5.1 × 10 −4 for C s . No break in molecular weight behavior was shown as a result of micellization at higher water contents. A comparison of molecular weights obtained by various classical methods (solution, emulsion, bulk) are also given.
