Although cases of classical "aplastic anemia" with hypocellular or fatty marrow comprise the bulk of this group, there remains a small but nonetheless puzzling number wherein the bone marrow is paradoxically quite cellular or even hyperplastic. Reviews by Vilter and associates (1) and Havard (2) point out the heterogeneity of such cases of "refractory anemia with hyperplastic marrow," emphasizing the need for more information on common factors among...References1.
