Hodgkin's disease was once nearly always fatal; now with proper management most patients can look forward to long survival and probable cure. But the new techniques of management are not themselves without the risk of short-and long-term complica- tions, and this is of particular importance in growing children. Today the challenge of treating the child with Hodgkin's disease is to design therapy which minimizes these potential hazards without in any way reducing the chance of cure.
