The impact parameter b in inelastic electron-clectron scattering has been measured for the first time through crystallographic orientation effects in electron energy-loss spectrometry (EELS) and energy-dispersive sptctrometry (EDS), in an electron microscope, since these effects depend on the relative size of the d spacing. The data are consistent with theory which shows that localization occurs when b/d is less than 1.
