Highlights the importance of genetic mapping in cardiomyopathies to inform health policies and support public financing of genetic testing.
Detailed genetic mapping of cardiac diseases can describe geographical founder mutations as well as disease prevalence at a country level, becoming a valuable tool to backup health policies encouraging public financing of genetic testing. Cardiogenetic units able to manage cardiomyopathy patients and their families from diagnosis and predictive testing to personalized therapy would highly benefit from the derived data.
