Conceptual study explores diagnosing and treating unnamed diseases in Ayurveda, emphasizing traditional principles.
In ayurveda acharya has commented that Vaidya need not to be ashamed when he is unable to name the disease infact it is not necessary to know the exact nomenclature as that it is not always possible. But it does not mean that one can not diagnosed such a condition. Anukta means unstated/unsaid/hidden. Anukta Vyadhi means the disease which is not explained in the Ayurvedic text. Acharya charak has mentioned in Viman Sthana 4/3 that a physician should have the ability to diagnosed and treat diseases even if they are not directly named in Samhitas, by using the basic principles of dosha, dhatu, mala, agni, and strotas. Acharya has stated that Anukta Vyadhi should be treated as per Hetu and vitiated Dosha and their Sthana.
