Demonstrates improved planning efficiency in construction, indicating significant advancements in automation.
The Construction Integrated Platform (CIP), as an emerging representative mode of on-site industrialized construction (OIC), enables multilayer synchronized operations and highly automated workflows. However, the process of generating a construction plan for this new mode remains largely unaddressed, as existing methods designed for traditional linear workflows cannot accommodate the CIP’s spatial coordination and component-level complexity. To bridge this gap, this study develops an automated framework for construction plan generation that integrates three core modules: (1) semantic enrichment through model-based definition (MBD) and building information modeling (BIM), which embeds semantics such as geometric and process information into a unified 3D model; (2) rule-based reasoning, which infers construction priorities from physical and process constraints; and (3) multiobjective optimization using the nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) to generate Pareto-optimal construction sequences. The framework transforms data-rich models into machine-readable logic, enabling the automated reasoning and optimization of the construction plan for the CIP mode. A case study of a high-rise building verifies that the proposed method significantly improves planning efficiency compared with manual methods. The proposed semantically driven and multiobjective optimization framework provides an exploratory and replicable technical pathway for the automated generation of a construction plan for the CIP-based construction mode, thereby contributing to the advancement of industrialized and automated construction.
