Why the study?
Does open abdominal aortic aneurysm repair have acceptable outcomes and survival rates in patients aged 85 years and older?
Does open abdominal aortic aneurysm repair have acceptable outcomes and survival rates in patients aged 85 years and older?
Elective open abdominal aortic aneurysm repair in patients over 85 years old has acceptable outcomes with zero operative mortality, whereas surgery for ruptured AAA in this age group carries a high mortality risk.
Elective open AAA repair may be feasible in select patients ≥85 years; leaves open need for prospective comparison with endovascular strategies.
