Highlights a rare presentation of purulent pericarditis due to Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 4 in an immunocompetent patient in the modern antibiotic era.
Rare pneumococcal purulent pericarditis occurs in immunocompetent hosts; case report leaves open questions on incidence and management.
