The perturbation methods of Krylov, Bogoliubov, and Mitropolsky are applied in a generalized form to some cases of wave propagation in a ``hot'' electron plasma. Amplitude-dependent frequency and wavenumber shifts are derived from the condition that the perturbation expansions be free of secular terms.
