The purpose of this study was to verify of educational effectiveness and outcomes of university swimming classes for enhancing self-preservation skills in the water which designed by Yamanaka et al. (2022), and to re-structure the teaching theory of self-preservation skills in the water from the design of the findings. The educational effectiveness of the class was evaluated by the changes in students' water movement skills and questionnaire survey. In order to analyze the changes in the students' water movement skills, we used the results of 10-minute drifting, 12-minute swimming, and Stallman's skill check. In addition, to analyze the educational outcomes of the class, we qualitatively analyzed the assignments in the class report to the students. The results of the skill measurements showed that the percentage of students who achieved the achievement task in 10-minute drifting and 12-minute swimming was significantly higher in the last class session than in the first class session. In addition, the percentage of students who answered "I can do " in the last class session was significantly higher than in the first class session for all measurements. And from the analysis of the class reports of the students, it was confirmed that the students were able to achieve the objectives and tasks through this class. In addition, the teaching theory of self-preservation ability in the water was re-structured, and the teaching theory of self-preservation ability in the water was as follows: (1) to set up the experience to cope with water disaster based on water movement skills and knowledge of underwater safety, (2) to let the students experience various aquatic activities, (3) to let the students recognize their own self-preservation skills in the water, (4) to enhance the ability to cope with water disaster situations to the stage of wisdom (stage of wisdom means that the stage where you can think of your own response ).早期公開
