Nearest neighbour frequencies and base composition of [32P]RNA synthesized by uterine nuclei of ovariectomized rats were altered by the injection of estradiol-17β to the animals. The administration of actinomycin D in vivo minimized the differences. These findings indicate that estrogen selectively enhances the synthesis by the uterine nuclei in vitro of RNA rich in cytidylyl-(3′,5′)-guanosine, guanosyl-(3′,5′)-uridine, and guanosyl-(3′,5′)-guanosine. There is also an increase in the content of adenosyl-(3′-5′)-uridine.
