A simple system for the output power stabilization of a helium-neon laser is described. In the system a technique of regulating the discharge current in the laser tube has been used. The fluctuations of the output power in the frequency band from dc to several hundred hertz were considerably lowered and a stability of about +or-0.015% over periods of less than 10 min, and +or-0.005% over periods of less than 30 s has been achieved.
