Caregiver commentary reveals practical challenges in Lewy body dementia, highlighting clinical and systemic gaps in patient support.
The clinical definition of caregiving in Lewy body dementia (LBD) leaves something to be desired for millions of caregivers experiencing the disease’s effects in real time. This commentary is a personal experience of a caregiver for a person with LBD which details the challenges a patient and her family continue to face. It highlights four specific areas of the LBD journey designed to further inspire clinicians, researchers, healthcare management, and the pharmaceutical industry in their work: disease staging, systemic changes in appointment structure, visual disturbances/hallucinations, and brain donations.
