Why the study?
Atrial tachycardias originating from right atrial appendages are often refractory to catheter ablation.
Population
A 25-year-old male with RAA-AT recurring after catheter ablation
Comparison
Right atrial appendectomy with specimen immunohistological analysis

Failed CA for RAA-AT may still warrant appendectomy; leaves open whether SA-like cells commonly underlie recurrence.
The presence of sinoatrial-like cells (enriched with HCN4 and lacking connexin 43) at the site of origin may explain the difficulty of catheter ablation in right atrial appendage atrial tachycardias.
