Survey and literature review uncovers persistent employment discrimination among persons with disabilities, highlighting the need to enforce existing legal protections.
This article looks at why people with persons with disabilities (PwDs) in India still struggle to find good jobs. Even though the Government passed the RPWD Act in 2016 to protect them, disabled people face a lot of unfair treatment. This paper uses a survey of 50 people and information from 15 studies, to find out why. The results show that many bosses do not understand disability rights and many disabled workers do not know how to report discrimination. The article concludes that we do not need new laws. Instead, we need to enforce the current rules, improve workplace awareness and make job interview fair for everyone.
