May reassure against overinterpreting isolated troponin rises after hip fracture surgery; leaves open need for prospective studies on monitoring utility.
Does an isolated troponin rise worsen 6-month mortality and/or rehospitalization in elderly patients with hip fracture?
In elderly patients undergoing hip fracture surgery, an isolated postoperative troponin rise without ischemic ECG changes does not worsen 6-month prognosis, unlike troponin elevation associated with acute coronary syndrome.
