Methodological study demonstrates construction of circular repeated measurement designs using cyclic shifts, providing efficiency benchmarks for experimental planning.
The use of minimal circular balanced RMDs (MCBRMDs) economically control carryover effects. Method of cyclic shifts (Rule I) produces MCBRMDs only for v odd, where v is the number of treatments to be compared. For v even, Rule I generates minimal circular partially balanced RMDs (MCPBRMDs) while Rule II may produce these designs for v integer. Using Rule I, MCPBRMDs are constructed in this article for v even in equal, two different, and three different period sizes. MCPBRMDs and MCBRMDs are also constructed for the same v using Rule II. The efficiency of separability (Es) and carryover effects (Er) for the same v are then used to compare these Rules of construction. Researchers and experimenters can use this comparison to determine which design to use and with which Rule it should be constructed.
