The relationships of the cereal Eragrostis tef (Gramineae: Eragrostoideae) have been investigated. Nine species are closely related to T'ef on morphological grounds. Their chromosome numbers are reported. E. pilosa and some of the E. cilianensis complex are closest to E. tef. These taxa may be useful sources of genes for T'ef improvement.
