Re-viewing instructional consultation (IC) from the perspective of its implementation in practice has reaffirmed the importance of the underlying assumptions presented in Instructional Consultation (Rosenfield, 1987). The basic processes have been refined and the results of advances in assessment and intervention continue to be integrated into the structure. More significant has been the evolution of IC-Teams as a more collaborative and systemic approach to service delivery. Several issues have emerged that need to be addressed, including (a) training needs, (b) diversity, (c) the linkage to comprehensive and coordinated service delivery, and (d) the practice of IC in secondary settings.
