The elastic constants of magnesium aluminate spinel have been measured by an ultrasonic pulse-echo technique. The results are C11 = 2.79 ± 2%, C44 = 1.53 ± 2%, C12 = 1.53 ± 4% in units of 1012 dyn/cm2.
